Objective completed, participants arrived at the Hotel in the city of Humaitá. In this hotel, they had contact with members of the Jeep Club of Manaus. They informed the group about the terrible condition of the BR-319.

BR-230 Note:

Transamzônica is the road of contrasts. In the same highway you see the deforestation of the jungle and you see very preserved areas with no ending green. Kilometers of good roads and kilometers of trail in the middle of forest. Hunger and abundance.

Meet the National Park of Amazonia was incredible experience. At some moment you stops the car and listen the sound of forest. It plays as a perfect harmony. A fusion sound of all life that lives there. In this moment you feel the forest alive.

The eighth day begins the more expected route for all adventurers, the abandoned BR-319.

The initial objective’s day was make a farewell lunch for the argentine participants, Eladio and Glenda. The Argentines leave the group that day, due to commitments in his homeland.

After to supply the vehicles, they followed to a local steak house and celebrated the end of the second stage of Transamazon 2009. They did a little fraternization for the farewell of the argentine friends.

The group left Humaitá at 15:00 pm

Interesting fact: during the fraternization two guys in a BMW and a Fiat Palio asked the group about the possibilities to follow them up to Manaus. This was promptly denied because those cars could not ever get to Manaus in the current road conditions.

It was time to stop and set camp. The place chosen was a beautiful country house on the roadside, stream, pond and a beautiful porch.

In this place the resident (Mr. Francisco) received the group kindly and gave the porch and the garden of his home for the group mounting camp.

After mounting camp, the group made a small bonfire of fraternization.

During the night everyone heard a pop coming from the direction of the cars. When they check, it was found a big problema - the torsion bar of the Xterra was broken!

23/02/2009

Ninth day of expedition, they had in this day a lot of work to fix the Nissan Xterra‘s problem.

It delayed the expedition in 2 days - time needed to find the broken part and bring back to the place of encampment.

The participants wake up soon, raise the Xterra with the Hi-Lift and begin to remove the damaged part.

Later, Daniel (driver of the Xterra) and Sérgio Holanda departed toward Humaitá for find the part.

Coming next to Humaitá they met with the group "Lameiros do Sul" that are also doing the same path.

Before this fact, the participants found a BMW, it was plunged in the mud in the beginning of the BR-319. Yes, those were the guys of Humaitá. They resolved to follow the road, even being warned not to do so.

The BMW was towed to a safe place. Water and food was unhand with them, because they had nothing and had a small child in the car. A great irresponsibility!
