Eleventh day of expedition:

Morning, the group (together again) starting to prepare the cars to leave (including the damaged part of the Xterra).

Everything ready, the group returns to the road, very mud, very wet by the rain of the night and starting to rain again.

Many holes in the road and mud, these holes make the group move to a low speed, only at first and second gear, all the time.

The group stayed in that place a half of hour and receive news of falling bridges and a lot of mud ahead, great news!

They puts the cars on the ferry and continue the journey.

Suddenly, they see a Van Toyota stopped in coasting with foreign plate.

The French (this is your nationality) was traveling with his car around de world. The car is a van Toyota diesel, with 4x4 traction, but it not have good height and tires for the obstacles of the road.

At this time, the expedition, starts was more difficult. This part of the highway was much mud and rain falls repeatedly. Without doubt, this moment is the most difficult of the expedition. However due to the preparation of the group, it was won with success.

In the last mired, the winch of Hilux could not remove the french's car. All others participants was trying too, but no success.

At that exactly time reached the group of maintenance of the road - the Engineering Battalion of the Army - and the participants left the French with them. Decision of the French. He said he would sleep in the camp of the Battalion.

After this episode the group went to Careiros, nearby town of Manaus.

The participants arrive in Carreiros, and go to the hotel. After spending nights camped or sleeping in their cars, a bed and an air-conditioning was a great reward for the group.

BR-319 note:

One of the two major highways connecting the isolated capital city of Manaus, it is mostly unpaved, and as a result, normal traffic is impracticable in the rainy seasons of the year. Despite this, BR-319 is a major highway of national significance because it connects Manaus to the southern regions of the country (which have greater population density).

There are an old project of the government to reconstruction this road, but until then, nothing has materialized.

The BR-319 alternates, between perfect asphalt, mud holes and dense forest, wild animals and local habitants.

That’s a singular Brazilian highway.

The forest, on all extension of the road, is preserved.
